Gearing up for the 2012 Indy Race at Barbers Motor Sports Park, Birmingham, Alabama.
Here is a blurb from AL.com about the change in the cars fro 2012.
A bigger, sleeker, more powerful car isn’t the only difference fans will notice when the IZOD IndyCar Series returns to Barber Motorsports Park at the end of March.
The new car design that is being introduced this year will look different with its nearly enclosed rear wheels and it will perform differently thanks to enhance horsepower.
But it will also try to appeal to fans on a sensory level that’s almost as important as how it looks.
“It’s going to make a better noise,” defending series champion Dario Franchitti said during a test session Monday at Barber.
Fans accustomed to hearing high-pitched IndyCar engines screeching down the track will hear a lower roar from the new engines. This year — for the first time in many years — Honda will not be the sole engine supplier to Indy teams. Chevy and Lotus engines will also…

It’s just a tweaked version of Subaru’s new 2012 Impreza, but whoa. Take a look at the new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek and you almost forget this is the car could catch repeat Subaru sales from owners of the Impreza Outback Sport five-door hatchback. Even with the 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport’s available two-tone exterior paint, though, it’s a wallflower compared to the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek featured in our gallery below.

Just the Facts:

TOKYO — Two concept versions of the 2013 Subaru BRZ sport coupe, one from STI and one from the tuner Prova, will be displayed at the upcoming 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon.
The Subaru BRZ STI Concept is similar to the BRZ Concept STI that was unveiled in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Los Angeles show car featured a hexagonal lower front grille, “hawk eye” headlamps, fin-shaped foglamps, front spoiler, rear wing, flared fenders, rear diffuser, twin exhaust pipes and carbon-fiber roof, as well as 18-inch STI wheels… Click here to read the entire article at Edmunds Inside Line.

Subaru is revealing its vision of an athletic, modern sports wagon with the Advanced Tourer concept, which melds slinky styling with a lithium-ion hybrid powertrain. It debuts on Nov. 30 at the Tokyo motor show.
The setup highlights the company’s signature technologies, including Symmetrical all-wheel-drive technology, a 1.6-liter horizontally opposed boxer-engine trade and a CVT gearbox. The engine is direct-injection and turbocharged.
Subaru says the wagon is the size of a C-segment vehicle, and it previews design direction for the future.
Other design features include a glass roof, and the interior uses wood and metal elements. There’s a large monitor built into the steering wheel to display maps, television and Internet services.

TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2011 /CNW/ – Combining rally-bred performance honed on gravel and tarmac with the exceptional safety and ride quality built into every Subaru, the WRX is the vehicle of choice for driving enthusiasts who also need a versatile, affordable family vehicle.
Just one year after a complete re-design and substantial upgrades, the 2012 WRX and WRX Limited Package return to dealerships bearing the prestigious ALG award for Best Sporty Car, awarded to the vehicle in the sporty car category expected to retain the highest percentage of its original price. Not surprisingly, the WRX shares the honour with its WRX STI stable mate.
Because powerful performance is the hallmark of every WRX, both the 4-door and 5-door models are powered by a 265-horsepower turbocharged/intercooled 2.5-litre SUBARU BOXER engine teamed with a 5-speed manual transmission. The highly responsive engine produces 244 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.
The WRX shares the wide body design first introduced on the WRX STI, underscoring the high-performance character of these models. The WRX 4-door design is based on a “wide and low” concept that gives the car an aggressive road presence featuring fenders that are stretched wider than the tail lamps, which accentuates a look of stability. Canada NewsWire – TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2011
Ultimately it’s all about performance, and the 2012 WRX STI continues as the ultimate-performance Subaru with its high-boost 305-horsepower turbocharged/intercooled SUBARU BOXER engine teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission and the exclusive Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru’s symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system.
The WRX STI is equipped with advanced dynamic control systems, including Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and a Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, which features a track performance-optimized mode. Hill Holder, featured on all Impreza models equipped with a manual transmission, can momentarily prevent the vehicle from rolling backward when being driven away from a stop on an incline.
High Performance Is Stable Performance
The WRX STI design is based on a “wide and low” concept that gives the car an aggressive road presence with wide front and rear track dimensions, as well as pronounced front fenders and rear quarter panels. The design maintains a consistent flow from front to rear bumper, creating a distinctive identity.
On the WRX STI 4-door sedan model, wide fenders stretch wider than the tail lamps, and this accentuates a look of stability. A striking high profile rear spoiler was exclusively designed for the STI 4-door. The design contributes to an appropriately low drag coefficient, and the rear spoiler design means stable high-speed handling with zero lift. The WRX STI 4-door features its own version of the polished stainless steel quad-tailpipe exhaust.
The WRX STI delivers ultra-crisp handling along with everyday ride compliance. High-tensile strength steel is used at key structural points and the suspension-mounting areas. Inverted struts used for the front suspension provide high bending resistance for quicker and more consistent performance under hard cornering. Aluminum front lower L-arms reduce unsprung vehicle weight.
A specially tuned suspension uses pillow-ball bushings in front and stiff bushings for the rear subframe that supports the double-wishbone suspension – these improve camber and toe stiffness.
Standard 18-inch Enkei aluminum wheels feature high-lustre paint on the Sport Tech models. Dunlop SP600 245/40R18 summer performance tires are used with the standard and optional wheels.
SI-DRIVE Gives WRX STI Driver Ultimate Control
